Today we had an unexpected trip to the Cotswolds. The weather at home was glorious but, as we drove northwards, we were soon engulfed in mist which seemed to get thicker and thicker. After we arrived at Bibury and had coffee and cake, we were restored as was the sun. We drove on to Oxfordshire and visited Burford with its golden stone glowing in the Autumn sunshine.

No, we didn’t have trout for tea. We could have bought some at Bibury Trout Farm, which is where we stopped for coffee.
Yes, I love the man in the moon too – had to look twice to see him though!

Had to Google the Army and Navy Tablets shown in the sweetshop photo – as I’ve never come across them before.
“Well known traditional liquorice herbal tasting sweet. Eat just as a sweet or to help that tickly cough.”

As always, lovely pics

I’m familiar with army and navy sweeties….perhaps they are a northern thing??
I’m in the east now – must see if they are in the shops here??

Thanks for sharing your great photos. I like the moon photo and the flowerless sunflower.

Wonderful pics for me to feast on Sandie. The history of the door in your last picture would be interesting. Do you think the bottom of the top door rotted away and was replaced with the bottom piece. Never seen a join like that. The detail on the horse chestnut shot is wonderful too. Clearly a fab day out.

I can’t decide about the door, Deb. I am not sure which part is the more rotten! Lots of keyholes have been made. The top hinge looks newer than the lower one. I loved the zigzag insert!

These pictures made me smile & brought a tear to my eye. I so want to live again, experience my beautiful country and not spend 70 hours at my desk on various conference calls, making decisions and writing policies…!

Such lovely photos, I love the Cotswolds. My other half goes fishing in Lechlade, another beautiful village in Oxon, I believe quite near to Burford? x
