Shooting Butterflies

Went walking in the woods again today and there were loads of butterflies everywhere – some I didn’t recognise so, as I had my camera with me, I tried to get a good shot of them.  I had one lined up with the leaf pretty much in focus …. pressed the button and …. hey presto …. no butterfly!

But, luckily, another was basking nearby in the sunshine …

According to my lovely old Observer Book of Butterflies it’s known as The Gatekeeper Butterfly which is attracted to hedgerows and bramble flowers.  How it got its name, I have no idea.

King Bladud’s Pigs in Bath

"Emily" - sponsored by Norland College

"Abi" sponsored by Bath Abbey

"Goldie" sponsored by Goldies Sing for Life

We popped into Bath this morning to do a bit of shopping and what a glorious morning it was.  Instead of going inside for mid-morning coffee, we decided to buy some ice-cold fresh pink lemonade and pain au raisins from M&S and to sit in the square by the Abbey.

Some of King Bladud’s pigs were nearby, so I couldn’t resist taking photos of them – I’m quite pleased with the quality – I took them with my mobile phone camera.

There are 100 sponsored life-sized pigs which can be found all over the city as part of an art project this summer.  I rather like “Pig in Prada” which is up by The Circus – but we didn’t venture that far today.

The full story of King Bladud’s Pigs can be found here

In October the pigs will be auctioned and the proceeds are going to The Sustrans Two Tunnels Greenway Project

A First ….

…. a photo of my lovely daughter, busy in her garden on Saturday.  Please note the dirty knees – this means that she had been doing some SERIOUS gardening!  Incidentally, it’s the photo that’s “A First” NOT her gardening!
